Belgian (1906–2002)
Considered a revival rather than a reproduction, this piece is Antwerp painter Lode Sebregts’s interpretation of "The Portrait of Isabella Brant" by Peter Paul Rubens.
Isabella Brant was Rubens’s first wife. He painted her many times in many different ways before she died at the age of 35 (she is a model for a nymph in the other work by Rubens in this room). The original portrait was painted at least five years before her death, however, this depicts Brant as much younger and warmer.
