This is an oil painting by surrealist artist Mark Kostabi.

In it, the body of a dog is shown on the bottom with a long neck that extends up to the top of the painting, ending with a human head wearing a top hat. At several spots, red disks bisect the creature’s neck. The piece is dated and titled verso.

About The Artist: Mark Kostabi

Artist and Composer Mark Kostabi was born in Los Angeles in 1960 to Estonian immigrants. He was raised in Whittier, California and studied drawing and painting at California State University, Fullerton. In 1982 he moved to New York and by 1984 he became a leading figure of the East Village art scene.
