Mia Westerlund Roosen

American (1942)

About the artist:

Born 1942 New York, NY The artist lives and works in New York, NY and Buskirk, NY Known for her monumental outdoor sculptures, including a group that was displayed along the Park Avenue median in New York in 2010, Mia Westerlund Roosen creates works full of sensuality and wit. Inspired by dance and feminism, Westerlund Roosen refers to the body, eroticism, and famous women in her hand-finished, cast concrete sculptures. Never literal, her works are interpretive and semi-abstract. French Kiss (2009), for example, is an enormous rendering of two curved,tongue-like forms locked in the expressive arch of a double lick.
