About The Artist: Michael Kachan

Michael Kachan was born in the countryside of Armenia. There, he completed secondary school and was a noteworthy student specializing in art. In 1985, he graduated with honors from the Kiev Institute of Arts. Before immigrating to Israel in 1992, Kachan was selected to represent the Ukrainian Painters League in a group exhibition that toured major cities throughout the former Soviet Union and abroad. About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
