From the era of this work, her back piece bio stated:

"Nancy Mellody Bentley graduated in 1963 from The Cleveland Institute of Art. While there she was a recipient of the Mary Suggest Ranney Scholarship. She also did graduate work at Syracuse University as well as studied printmaking for 3 years with Naomi Limont and drawing with Jaques Fabert.

People are the theme of her printmaking images. Emphasis is on the heads and faces that belong to neither the past nor the present but rather a third world of fantasy. Dissatisfied with the flat surface of the printed, she began cutting, bending and pulling out the printed surface. During this period she took a workshop in paper making opening the dimensional possibilities of paper further. In these cast paper pieces she sometimes employs the use of the print or embellishes other objects in or on the paper.

She has won many awards and has exhibited in numerous juried and invitational shows including the Rutgers National Drawing Show, The Moravian National Print Show, The Hunterdon National Print Show, Beaver College, The University of Delaware, Pennsylvania State University, Bucks County Community College, Woodmere Art Center and Cheltenham Art Center.

Currently she is teaching youth art classes at the Bucks County Childrens Art Center and teaches Printmaking in her studio. She is a member of Artist Equity, The Print Club of Philadelphia, Cheltenham Printmakers Guild and The Lehigh Art Alliance.
