about Femme au Balcon, 18-A

Leaning against the curved railing of the balcony, the model in this print is depicted through a series of shapes and forms of varying colors layered over one another.

A typical example of Pablo Picasso’s work, this print demonstrates the artist’s ability to manipulate perspective and create unique views of his subjects. A lithograph from the Marina Picasso Estate Collection after an original work by Pablo Picasso. In the 1970’s after Picasso’s death, Marina Picasso, his granddaughter, authorized the creation of this lithograph by Laurent Marcel Salinas, who worked closely with Picasso during his lifetime. The limited edition print run was completed and published by Marina Picasso in conjunction with Jackie Fine Arts between 1979 and 1982. The lithograph is printed on French Arches paper, ink-stamped by the Estate verso, and hand-signed by Marina Picasso on the recto. The embossed seal of the Estate is lower right and the printer’s chop, lower left. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
