Patricia Tobacco Forrester's subject matter evolves around the theme of landscape, trees and flowers. Her renderings combine sensitivity with powerful expression, instilling in viewers a greater appreciation for their natural surroundings. Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, she now lives and works in Washington, D.C. She graduated with an MFA from Yale University. Tobacco Forrester has been awarded a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship in printmaking, and has been the recipient of several residencies, among them the prestigious Mac Dowell Colony. Tobacco Forrester's many accomplishments include teaching printmaking and watercolor at several colleges, as well as being guest artist at such distinguished institutions as the Chicago Art Institute, and the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. She lived from the sixties to 1981 in San Francisco, and moved to Washington, D.C., in 1982. She was married to Alex Forrester and Paul Ekman. Tobacco Forrester is enjoying growing popularity. Her impressive list of one-person shows across the United States is a testimony to this fact. Her work has been shown at numerous institutions of a very high caliber, such as the following: Frick Gallery, University of Pittsburgh, PA M.H. de Young Memorial Museum, San Francisco, CA New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, New Orleans, LA San Francisco Museum of Art, San Francisco, CA In addition, her work is presented in many important collections.
