Paul Henry Brach

About the artist:

An artist and educator, Paul Brach was the first dean of the School of Art at the California Institute of the Arts, and also was chairman of the division of arts at Fordham University in New York. In the 1950s, he did Abstract Expressionist painting; in the 1960s shifted to monochromatic artwork; and from the 1970s did visionary, fantasy landscapes inspired by the American Southwest. Some of his more recent paintings visit themes of the 'secrets of the universe.' Brach died on November 16, 2007 in East Hampton, New York.
