Paul Jacobsen

American

About the artist:

Paul Jacobsen uses everyday objects, such as chairs, cars, airplanes, trains, motorcycles and puzzles, all built from scratch, and turns them into haunting and very desirable works of art. Among his most famous works are the Adirondack Chair series, which has won him acceptance and recognition. The Adirondack chair fascinates Jacobsen, bringing recollections of summer beaches, color, and warmth. “The chairs themselves are just a vehicle to paint on. Paint does all sorts of wonderful things to these chairs. Color is what is really important to me,” says Paul Jacobsen. The artist who now resides in Colorado is a transplanted New Yorker. He first introduced his chairs in 1990 and they have a tremendous emotional appeal, creating nostalgia for a past era in our contemporary world. His work has recently expanded to include incredible replicas of classic cars, which are being met with great success. Paul currently resides in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and is always on the look-out for new ways to capture our attention and our imagination
