Paul Sieffert

About the artist:

Paul Sieffert was born in Paris in 1874. He was primarily a painter of nudes, portraits and illustrations. He was a pupil of Gérôme, Gabriel Guay and Maignan and showed at the Paris Salon from 1894 onwards. He was awarded the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1902 and the Diploma of Honour at the 1937 Expo. He was a member of the League of French Artists and also sat on its vetting committee. He was made a Knight of the Légion d’honneur in 1931. He is also known for his stained glass, decorative compositions and exotic illustrations.
