about Lilies, Carnations & Stones

In this ethereal depiction by Rainer Gross of a vase filled with lillies and carnations, a male and female figure float in the background.

Surrounded by small orbs that resemble bubbles, the male figure reaches out to the female figure, who has her arms pulled up around her head forming a circle. While the vase is rendered as a three-dimensional, weighty object, the couple is depicted in a ghostlike manner, with transparent limbs and flowing hair.
