About the artist:

Rex Flood (1928-2009) was an aviation and wildlife artist. He ws in the RAF for 22 years at Coltishall in Norfolk, where he painted the emblem of 74 Squadron, a tiger's head, on the side of aircraft. He also painted aircraft and 6 of his paintings were purchased by the RAF Club in Piccadilly. RAF Cranwell also commissioned another 10 in 1969, before he left the Service. There is another in the National Collection at the Defence Academy of the UK. He lived in Happisburgh for a number of years, where he began painting dogs, horses and, particularly, birds, with meticulous attention to detail. Latterly he lived in Yorkshire, where he died on 28th August 2009.
