about Great Horned Owl

Perched on a single leafless branch with greenish-brown bark, two great horned owls stare back at the viewer with their wide yellow eyes in this Richard Evans Younger print.

Sitting in front of one another, the bird in rear pokes its head out from behind the first owl to watch the viewer as well. The artist's skillful depiction of the owls in such a realistic manner is due to his care in replicating the plumage of the birds.

About The Artist: Richard Evans Younger

Richard Evans Younger is one of the four “Master Wildlife Artists” of the 1960s-1970s featured in this FHG Collection Web site catalog. The artwork includes four bird paintings and five animal pieces. Richard is one of America’s most prolific wildlife artists. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils.
