about Dixie Coast

This exceptional 1980 screenprint by Richard McLean captures the racing horse Dixie Coast with the photographic precision and hyperrealistic detail that defines American Photorealism.

McLean’s meticulous technique renders the equestrian subject with extraordinary accuracy and clarity, celebrating the beauty and athleticism of thoroughbred racing through fine art printmaking. The composition showcases the artist’s signature approach to Photorealist imagery, where careful observation and technical mastery transform sporting subjects into compelling museum-quality works. This signed and numbered edition of 300, published by Jackie Fine Arts, represents McLean’s important contribution to documenting American equestrian culture through photorealist art.

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
