Painter, sculptor, etcher, Robert J. Cariola was born in Brooklyn, New York.
Cariola studied art at the Pratt Institute, New York, graduating in 1954. For a number of years the artist taught at Nassau County Fine Arts Museum. Thereafter he began teaching painting techniques at the National Art League, Douglaston, New York.
During his career, Robert J. Cariola has received the New York State Council on the Arts grants. twice been awarded Tiffany Foundation Grants. His murals grace schools, senior centers and a number of religious institutions.
