Robert Indiana (American, 1928-2018) created the "American Dream Print Portfolio" in 1997 after working on pieces of the American dream for over 30 years.

Within these prints are bright bold colors and symbols which held various meanings for Indiana. Most prints have circles, stars, numbers or stenciled letters. This print is from his "Decade: Autoportraits" series, which feature locations from Maine. Robert Indiana spent much of his time in Maine and dedicated this series to his favorite locations there. Penobscot is a town in Hancock County, Maine.

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched.
