about The Goner

Rocky Rodgers's depiction of two cowboys on horseback beside a calf provides a view into the often difficult life of a cowboy in the American West.

Leaning over their horses to inspect the calf laying on the ground, the cowboys attempt to ascertain why the animal won't move. Laying alone, the calf will hopefully be ushered to stand and head back to the ranch by the cowboys.

About The Artist: Rocky Rodgers

Rocky Rodgers was born in Oklahoma in 1947 and grew up in Texas and Los Angeles. He has been painting ans drawing since childhood. Rodgers di impressionistic and Oriental Style Paintings while stationed aboard a Navy ship during the Vietnamm era. When he left the service Rodgers attended the University of New Mexico Fine Arts where he studied contemporary abstract painting. Rodgers lived in Taos, where the countryside is as close as one's front...
