Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 5, 1924, the daughter of Henry and Anna Braun Evers, she attended local schools and was the Valedictorian of the graduating class of 1942 at Newtown High School in Queens. Mrs. Kochta was an accomplished abstract painter and was well known in the New York City art community. She owned and operated her own gallery in Greenwich Village, Manhattan for many years.
