A dark and surreal print from Salvador Dalí’s (Spanish, 1904-1989) series based on the Italian writer Dante’s epic poem Divine Comedy.

Inferno is the first part of the epic, which follows Dante in his journey through Hell, guided by Virgil. In Canto 11 Virgil and Dante approach the edge of the seventh circle of hell.

About The Artist: Salvador Dali

Salvador Dalí was born in May 11, 1904 in the small agricultural town of Figueres, Spain. Figueres is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, only sixteen miles from the French border in the principality of Catalonia. The son of a prosperous notary, Salvador Dalí spent his boyhood in Figueres and at the family's summer home in the coastal fishing village of Cadaques where his parents built his first studio.
