about Tauromachie de Dali

The title of this work translates to "Dali Bullfighting" which aptly conveys the scene played out in this print.

A messy and surreal bullfight takes place in stark red and black, playing heavily into Dali’s signature style of warped and stretched figures. Streaks of red, like blood, are pushed across the image to represent a bull’s underbelly, an ill-fated onlooker, the fighter’s cape, and the distant crowd. Black outlines the more prominent figures of the bull and two fighters, but also a delicate crown that floats above one fighter’s head.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
