about Caught in a Blow

Shannon Stirnweis's rendering of a Native American man and his horse beneath a boulder represent the ever-changing weather conditions of the American West and the environmental perils that awaited all inhabitants of the area.

Huddled over for warmth and protection, the man wraps a red cloak around his body while the horse beside him is unshielded from the elements.
