Madame Augustine Roulin was the wife of the postman who served Vincent van Gogh’s home in Arles.
Van Gogh famously painted the entire Roulin family multiple times throughout his career. This lithograph by Shinjiro Okamoto has a minimalist approach to reproducing the portrait of Madame Roulin, focusing only on the outlines of her skirt, hands, and the braided cord she was holding. The print is signed, numbered, and dated in pencil.
