Hungarian/American (1940)
About the artist:
"Born in 1940 in Hungary, I have lived and worked in New York for many years. From 1985 to 2000 I had been an active member of Gallery 84 on West 57th Street until it ceased functioning due to the illness of the director. During this period I had several solo shows at Gallery 84 and elsewhere, and partook in several group exhibits in various parts of the country. My work is owned in Japan, Europe and of course in many parts of the US. Since 2000 I had no commercial representation and had been selling privately. For the last several years I have turned to writing and had a book published this past summer. My work covers all media, is essentially realist/impressionist, though the last few years I produced a body of work that veers to more “abstraction”, a series called “Imaginary Landscapes” as well as some computer graphics. There is a large inventory of work, so if you are interested in representation, I would be happy to talk about it. For a quick, representational view of what there is, a sample can be seen on a group art-site called “New York Artworld”. I do not have a website of my own, but if you are interested in a more detailed view, let me know and I can e-mail you more photos of the work. " - Susan Gerstein
