About the artist:

Born in 1950, Susan Roth has been painting seriously for 50 years. Her work can be seen in prestigious collections world wide including Hirshhorn Museum, Smithsonian, Washington DC; Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts; Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Museum of Contemporary Art, Zurich, Switzerland and Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan. Roth is well known for her wide interests in materials employing acrylic media, powder coated steel and a varied use of paper, both in printmaking and collage. Beginning in 1980, Sam Golden and Roth collaborated to make heavy acrylic gels enabling her roiling surfaces and she has continued this investigation with Golden Artist Colors of acrylic materials as her paintings dictated. Many of these media initially made for her, such as colored gesso, light weight molding paste and pumice paint, are being used by artists everywhere. Widely reviewed, her work has attracted many young artists to study with her.
