About the artist:
Tom George has had a career in art for almost sixty years. He was born in New York in 1918, attended Dartmouth College, and served in the Navy during World War II. He studied art in Paris and Florence, Italy, and has lived and worked abroad for a good part of his life. The artist has had four retrospective exhibitions, the most recent in 2005 at the Princeton University Art Museum. His exhibition history includes twenty years with the legendary Betty Parsons Gallery in New York. His work is included in many private, corporate, and museum collections, among them the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, in New York, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
