Valentina DuBasky is an artist with 35 years of professional exhibition experience nationally and internationally. Her modern-day, cave-wall paintings are grouped within New Image Painting, a painting movement in the United States from the 1980’s. She maintains her painting studio in New York City. PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS EXHIBITIONS AND REVIEWS: DuBasky has exhibited her paintings and prints in 39 one-person exhibitions and over 130 group exhibitions nationally and internationally. Her Riverbirds and Rainforest Paintings have been featured on WETA-PUBLIC TELEVISION. She has had over 64 reviews, articles and features in national and fine art publications; including ARTFORUM, ART IN AMERICA, ARTNEWS, THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE NEW YORKER, ART & ANTIQUES, NEW YORK ART REVIEW, PRINT COLLECTOR’S NEWSLETTER, AND LUXE MAGAZINE. MONOPRINTS AND FINE ART PRINT EDITIONS: DuBasky has created large-scale monoprints and fine art print editions with Tandem Press (2013), Pelavin Editions, Ltd. (1984-2008) and Solo Press (1983). Her prints have been featured in ARTNEWS, ARTS MAGAZINE, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY PRINTS (JAPAN), THE PRINT COLLECTORS NEWSLETTER AND PRINT NEWS: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CONTEMPORARY PRINTS. COLLECTIONS: DuBasky’s work is included in over 66 public and museum collections including the Orlando Museum, the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, the Newark Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, Herbert F. Johnson Museum at Cornell University, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Pew Charitable Trust Collection, Prudential Collection, IBM Collection, Fuzhou International Center in China and in private collections in Europe, Asia and the Mideast. GRANTS AND INTERNATIONAL AWARDS include a Fulbright Senior Specialist Grant (2016), Artist in Residence Grant, Pang Mapha Highland Archaeology Project, Thailand (2006), Teaneck Creek Conservancy Residence (2003), Art in Embassies Visiting Artist Grant, US Department of State, Latvia and Estonia (2002); United States Embassy Artist in Residence Grant, Silpakorn University, Thailand (2001); two Pollock Krasner Foundation Grants (1999, 1986) and Ariana Foundation for the Arts (1984). INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS & CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMS: DuBasky believes art is an international language that can build bridges of friendship around the world. She has designed and conducted international projects and cultural exchange programs in numerous countries on six continents in cooperation with US Embassies, nonprofit organizations, arts organizations and educational institutions. She has participated in Art in Embassy Program exhibitions in 9 countries. Valentina has also worked on numerous human rights projects in Southeast Asia. She first visited Southeast Asia as photographer for the Associated Press in Vietnam in 1991 and worked as a human rights photographer in Cambodia two months after the cease-fire was signed in 1991. In 1998, DuBasky was the only visual artist to serve as an official election observer of the Cambodian National Elections and receive UN training with 600 observers from 34 countries.
