Vern Swansen

About the artist:

Vern Swansen was born in Oregon on August 9, 1916. Swansen grew up in Pasadena and majored in architecture at the University of Southern California. He was curator of education at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art from 1961 to 1971 and past president of the Santa Barbara Art Association. In 1975 he earned his M.A. degree from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He also taught watercolor at Cal Poly where he was chosen as the most distinguished faculty member in 1987. He died in San Luis Obispo, CA on December 2, 1992.
