Walter Shirlaw was born in Paisley Scotland in 1838. He as a child his family moved to New York City. He was successful during his time, and now has exhibited works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Art Institute in Chicago, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Harvard University Art Museums, and at the Detroit Institute for Arts. He passed away in 1909 in Madrid, Spain....
