William C. Landwehr

About the artist:

Bill was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 19, 1941, to Frank and LaVerna Landwehr. He graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Bill continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in art and art education in 1964. He received a Master's degree in studio art from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks in 1998. Bill was an art museum executive serving as the founding director of the South Dakota Museum of Art, Brookings; director of the Springfield (Missouri) Art Museum; Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences, (now the Peoria Riverfront Museum), Illinois; and the Paine Art Center and Gardens, Oshkosh. Bill and his wife Katherine purchased Otter Cove Resort in 1994. In 1998 Otter Cove Condominiums, Inc. was formed and several of the resort cottages were sold as privately owned condominiums. He was an original member of the Eagle River Area Room Tax Commission and served as treasurer for four years. He taught art at Northland Pines Middle School for three years.
