In this William Schwedler print, the artist combines several drastically different elements, including a faded primary-color background, angular and geometric lines of varying width, and a reintroduction of the simulated animal print across a large biomorphic shape in the center of the composition.

About The Artist: William Schwedler

Born, raised, and educated in Chicago, Schwedler could not help but be influenced by the local artistic milieu, particularly with those contemporaries and friends who formed the Hairy Who in the Mid - 1960's Franz Schulze (Chicago Imagist Art, 1972 ) has observed of Schwedler, "... his work took on its fundamental character during his Chicago years. if the city did not form him it was surely the place where his formative experiences occurred...

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
