Xing Fei

Chinese (1958)

About the artist:

Xing Fei moved from Beijing to New York in 1984. She studied Chinese ink and brush painting at China's leading art institute. Xing Fei's work has been shown in museums and galleries in the United States and around the world. Xing Fei worked as an artist, illustrator and graphic designer. Since 2001 she has been designing and producing jewlery. Her collections are contemporary design mixed with bohemian flavor, using 14 karat gold, silver and 14 karat gold-filled with precious/semi- precious stones. Xing Fei's jewelry creations are inspired by nature, textile, sculpture and painting. She believes that her jewelry must illustrate harmony and beauty, it should make women feel complete and unique. Using knitting and weaving techniques, she transforms metal into cascading, shimmering strands which feel like fabric. As every piece is painstakingly hand-crafted with extraordinary attention to detail, each creation varies slightly – always unique, no two alike. You can find Xing Fei's jewelry collections at the AsiaStore at Asia Society and Museum, Dehesh Museum of Art & American Museum of Natural History Store.
