About the artist:
I am an artist and designer, shaped by both Eastern tradition and Western contemporary practice. Born and raised in China, my early training in ink painting, watercolor, and oil established a foundation that values both technical precision and poetic expression. After studying interior design at Pratt Institute and sustainable design at the University of Pennsylvania, I now navigate between the practical world of design and the introspective realm of painting.
My work lives in the space between reality and imagination. I paint the ordinary - a teacup, a wrinkled shirt, a dimly lit hallway - but infuse these everyday scenes with something quietly surreal. A shadow that shouldn't exist, a color slightly too vivid, a perspective that bends when you look too long. These subtle disruptions mirror how our emotions color perception; how a familiar space can feel alien after a difficult phone call, or how sunlight through a window can momentarily transform the mundane into magic.
