Alessandro Mochetti (1760 - 1812) was an Italian engraver. Alessandro Mochetti has little biographical information. He was a pupil of Giovanni Volpato and worked mainly with Roman publishers. He participated in the realization of the illustrative tables of the work, in several hands, The Bible by Raphael, published in 1789 by Pietro Paolo Montagnani and which had successive editions [1] [2] and contributed with his engravings to illustrate the work Il Duomo of Orvieto. For the series of prints Episodes from the Life of Pius VI engraved the painting Departure from Rome by S.S. Pius VI for Siena escorted by French Dragons followed on the night of February 20 1798. [3] [4] He has recorded images taken from paintings by many artists, including Francesco Manno. His son Giuseppe was an engraver and worked at the Roman Chalcography (now the National Graphic Institute).
